PEQA Launches Certification Program: With the passage of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and the amendments of the Rehabilitation Act, state VR Agencies are encouraged to adopt initiatives that will improve the quality of employment outcomes for people with disabilities to facilitate entry to the middle class.
To achieve these goals, state VR agencies must transform their business models by adopting organizational innovations and harnessing advances in IT and communication technologies, integrate evidenced-based practice (EBP) and program evaluation methods, and shift evaluation approaches to necessitate a strong knowledge of contemporary health and human service business models.
With this aim in mind, the Technical Assistance Center for Program Evaluation and Quality Assurance (PEQA) is launching a training certification program for VR program evaluators. PEQA encourages participation by state vocational rehabilitation staff members responsible for data collection, storage, and analysis related to quality assurance.
The primary goal of the training is to enhance the program evaluation and quality assurance knowledge and skill base within state VR programs in support of successful implementation of the Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA).
The courses will be delivered online over the course of 12 months. It is estimated that individuals will need about 5-6 hours per week to stay actively engaged in the learning and participation requirements.
Capstone Project
After successful completion of the online courses, participants will implement a capstone project within their state VR program. These projects are intended to provide an opportunity to apply knowledge and skills gained through the online courses in real-life situations. The goal is to design and implement program evaluation projects that support the participant’s state agency’s needs in measuring various aspects connected to successful WIOA implementation.
